New DVDs in the General Library


Alive day memories. Documentary: interviews with ten wounded soldiers who escaped death in Iraq.

Amadeus. Mediocre composer Salieri is obsessed with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

American gangster. Crime movie starring Denzel Washington.

Enron : the smartest guys in the room. Documentary film.

Fistful of dollars. Sergio Leone western with Clint Eastwood.

For a few dollars more. Another Clint Eastwood spaghetti western.

Gone baby gone. Crime thriller based on the novel by Dennis Lehane.

The good, the bad and the ugly. Clint again.

Hang ‘em high. Clint’s first American western.

In the valley of Elah. Retired MP investigates the disappearance of his son following the son’s return from Iraq.

Knocked up. Comedy film about unintended pregnancy? 90% on Rottentomatoes.com.

Nascar : the IMAX experience.

Michael Clayton. Corporate crime thriller starring George Clooney.

Minority report. Sci Fi suspense based on a story by Philip K. Dick.

Rashomon. Japanese classic starring Toshiro Mifune, set in the middle ages; the subjectivity of memory.

Shawshank redemption. Prison film based on short story by Stephen King.

This film is not yet rated. Documentary on the way American films are rated (and strange decisions reached) by the Motion Picture Association of America.

Transformers. 2007 film, based on the 1980’s Hasbro toy line. Per one reviewer on RT, “giant robots blowing stuff up”.

We own the night. Thriller—brothers on opposite sides of the law clash in 1980s New York.
