New resources available remotely

Pharmacy Letter, Prescriber's Letter, Natural Medicines Database, and Academic Emergency Medicine are now available remotely via Athens. All you need to do is to use your Athens login and password to access these resources when working off-base. (NMCSD staff only)

Anatomy.Tv Trial

AnatomyTv

The NMCSD library has arranged a trial of Anatomy.Tv.
Anatomy.Tv contains online interactive 3D models of the human anatomy. View medically accurate representations of the following: hand, forearm, shoulder, foot, ankle, lower-leg, knee, hip, thigh, spine, the back, pelvis head & neck and thorax & abdomen.

Also available is a full skeleton showing the bones, bone regions and muscle attachment points.
Interactive features include zoom, layers, MRI, clinical slides and x-rays, animations and more.
Images, animation and text can be exported for educational purposes.

PILOTS - New database for PTSD

The PILOTS database is an electronic index to the worldwide literature on post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other mental-health consequences of exposure to traumatic events. It is produced by the National Center for PTSD, and is electronically available to the public.
Although it is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the PILOTS database is not limited to literature on PTSD among veterans.

New search engine for biomedical images

Having hard time finding the right article for your presentation?
Give BiomedSearch a try. BiomedSearch is a new search engine that searches for images that are part of articles published in biomedical journals. It has currently indexed over 1 million images.
